ADVOCACY FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

BACKGROUND

CAL/ACEP's Advocacy Fellowship program is a gateway and training ground for young physicians to become active in advocating for their patients and specialty. Fellows have the opportunity engage themselves in different aspects of legislative, regulatory, or legal advocacy and, together with CAL/ACEP's Advocacy staff, can design an experience that will both satisfy their personal policy and advocacy interests and perform an important service for emergency care in California. Fellows will get a first-hand look at how policy is made in California and how to best effectuate the change they want to see. The ultimate goal is to develop a new generation of emergency physician advocates who will lead their specialty in better serving the needs of patients. For more information on the Advocacy Fellowship, please contact CAL/ACEP Advocacy at advocacy@calacep.org

ADVOCACY FELLOWSHIP DIRECTOR

In 2009, the CAL/ACEP Board of Directors appointed Mathew Foley, M.D., M.S. as the Director of the Advocacy Fellowship Program.  As a former Advocacy Fellow, Dr. Foley is acutely aware of the needs of the Fellowship and works with the CAL/ACEP staff and lobbyists to design a program to benefit both the Fellows and meet the organization's vision of the Fellowship as a training-grounds for future chapter leadership.

If you have interest in the Advocacy Fellowship, you may contact CAL/ACEP Advocacy or the Advocacy Fellowship Director for more information.
