EMS

CAL/ACEP's Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Committee serves as a resource for chapter members as well as the general emergency medical services community. EMS activities include prehospital EMS, trauma, injury, air medical and disaster medicine.

Activities include:

  • Monitoring state and local EMS activities and making recommendations on policy, standards, legislation, liability and educational issues in EMS.
  • Representing the interests of emergency physicians at state and local EMS hearings, meetings and discussions and on state and local EMS committees.
  • Serving as an information clearinghouse by researching and responding to inquiries on EMS-related topics from members and others.
  • Monitoring state legislation and regulations that affect state and local EMS (i.e., funding including Tobacco/EMS fund, Do-Not-Attempt-Resuscitation, etc.)
  • Assisting in developing educational programs for EMS.
